Pepperwood Reserve

Sonoma County, California 2022

LandCulture worked with Pepperwood to develop new landscapes for three buildings destroyed by the 2019 Kincaide Fire: the Barn, the Preserve Manager’s house, and the Mountain House.

These landscapes feature native plants in fire-wise modern designs and serve as teaching and observational tools for preserve visitors. The goal was to create garden spaces using site native plants bringing these plants into the foreground and highlighting their beauty and the habitat they support for birds, pollinators and fauna.

Working with a very limited budget, the designs bring the new modern buildings into the landscape setting and create contrasts of light and texture to encourage reflection and observation of the landscape.
